Markets Meet in Asia-Pacific
January 27, 2011
The 3rd Asia-Pacific Wholesale Market Conference and the 4th Chinese International Agro-Product Trading Fair was held in Wenling, China in mid December 2010. Co-hosted by the WUWM Asia-Pacific Working Group, about 400 delegates from 10 countries participated in the event. The theme of the conference was "Asia-Pacific Cooperative Market Innovation" with the aim to promote increased trade cooperation and experience exchange among Asia Pacific wholesale food markets. CAWA Chairman, Zengjun Ma, spoke to the theme of the conference, alongside Professor Thomas Reardon from Michigan State University, as well as representatives from Sydney Markets and the Garak Market, Seoul who spoke on innovative new market systems. An Asia-Pacific Working Group Meeting was held during the same period discussing the establishment of a Guide for Good Hygienic Practice for the Asia-Pacific market sector. Further exchange amongst the region’s markets will be undertaken in 2011. Copies of the presentations made in English during the event are available for downloading from the WUWM website member-only section.
