WUWM Board Gathers in Holland for Annual Meeting
February 10, 2010
An annual WUWM Board of Directors meeting was held in late January in the Netherlands. This year the event was not held as usual within the offices of the WUWM Secretariat, being instead held in the off-market premises of WUWM associate member company, Vroegop Ruhe b.v. Vroegop Ruhe also have premises on the Amsterdam Food Centre (AFC), and several members of the Board took the opportunity to tour this 75 year old wholesale market after the meeting. A project vision paper has been prepared for the future development of this inner city market, proposing a smaller but more modern, effective and strategic facility. Vroegop Ruhe is a holding company for five businesses, with nine branches employing 600 full-time employees. It’s turnover in 2009 was Euro 265 mil. Prior to the second day of the Board meeting, an interesting technical visit was made to the Vroegop-Windig Bleiswijk premises which provides logistical services to the food sector (for further information see WUWM newsletter no. 10 from 2009). Members of the WUWM Board also had the opportunity to visit the De Kweker cash & carry company located on the premises of the Amsterdam Food Centre. Our thanks to all those involved in their support of this event.
