URGENT - WUWM Palma Conference Postponed!!!
April 18, 2010
As you know there has been an unprecedented closure of much of European airspace over the past four days, and there would appear to be no foreseeable resolution to that problem. Many WUWM Conference delegates have already confirmed that their flights to Palma have been cancelled, while most others are facing that situation imminently. In response to the fact that many delegates and programme speakers can no longer attend Palma, our hosts have today taken the proactive stance of postponing this conference. It is proposed that this conference instead be held in the latter half of 2010. Postponing the conference is seen to be the most sensible and proactive decision that can be taken under such difficult circumstances. It is anticipated that the registration fees already paid by delegates will remain valid for the postponed conference. Additionally, we encourage delegates with cancelled airline bookings to review the possibilities of rebooking their Palma flights at the airline carrier’s expense. The WUWM Board of Directors will meet via teleconferencing in the coming days. Immediately thereafter the dates of the postponed Palma Conference will be detailed to members, along with proposals related to matters important to the good running of the Union. On behalf of both the WUWM and our conference hosts I thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the WUWM Secretariat. We look forward to providing you with further details as they come to hand.
