Istanbul Prepares to Host WUWM 27th Congress
July 20, 2010
The postponed WUWM 27th Congress to be held in Istanbul, Turkey was recently confirmed as taking place 10-13 May 2011. Istanbul Metropolitan Market (IMM) Director, Mr Bayram Ali Çakiroðlu recently met with WUWM Secretary General, Maria Cavit, to finalise the new event venue and logistics. The meeting participants, including representatives of the Istanbul Municipality Foreign Relations Department and Istanbul Metropolitan Planning Center, also made use of the occasion to prepare, in cooperation with both the Istanbul University and the Istanbul Aydin University, session themes for the congress programme. To be held under the general theme of “Globalizing wholesale markets: ensuring demand and supply between East and West”, congress discussions will incorporate areas related to food hygiene and certification; transportation (supply and distribution); new wholesale market planning; market logistical processes; and organic/niche markets and branding. It is envisaged that delegates will be treated to a cruise on the Bosphorus during one of the congress social events. More information on the delegate and partner programmes will be made available during the WUWM Membership Meeting to be held in Palma de Mallorca in September. Further information on that event is available in the link below.
