China Continues Wholesale Market and Trade Exchange Talks
February 3, 2015
China Market Association (CAWA) Chairman, Zengjun Ma, recently led a 10-person delegation to Mexico and the USA.
In Mexico, visits to avocado farms and packing houses, as well as to the Mexico City wholesale market (CEDA) were arranged by the Mexico Ministry of Agriculture (SAGARPA). Avocado exports from Latin America to China were discussed, with B2B meetings held between the delegation and avocado exporters, arranged by the Mexico National Avocado Association (APEAM).
CAWA and APEAM reached agreement to sign an MOU to facilitate trade between their members. The delegation was also received by the Minister of Agriculture, who noted that the export volume from Mexico to China was quite large, but that the export volume of agricultural products only amounted to 1 % of the total sum. A promotion of Mexican agricultural products (including nuts, honey, almonds, mangoes and tobacco) was made in the hope that Chinese consumers would have increased access to high quality Mexican agricultural product, through the platform of CAWA , nto the future.
In the USA, the delegation visited the Los Angeles Produce Wholesale Market, some chef warehouses and a fresh fruit logistic company, exchanging views and exploring possible cooperation opportunities with each organization.
