35th WUWM Belgrade Conference was a great success

The recent 35th Conference of the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) held in Belgrade, Serbia included the participation of over 150 food market professionals representing 27 countries of the world.
Hosted by the Belgrade City Markets and held under the theme: “ Disruptions and Challenges in the Fresh Food Market Supply Chain” with discussions held on topics that included: The Effects of Current Agriculture Policies on Modern Food Markets; Wholesale and Retail Markets Modernisation and Renovation Experiences; Disruptive Technologies Potential Impact on Food Market Strategies.

In brief, during the membership meeting the importance of the WUWM – FAO collaboration was highlighted, as well as WUWM -Global Alliance to Promote Fruit and Vegetable Consumption "5 a Day" (AIAM5) the signing of MoU.
Also during this event, six Director positions on the WUWM Board were open to elections. Those persons successful in being elected were:

Mr Michal Kostelecki, Silesia Wholesale Flower Market,Tychy, Poland
Mr Arturo Salvador Fernández Martínez, Centro de Abasto de Ecatepec, Mexico City, Mexico
Mr Fabio Massimo Pallottini, ITALMERCATI, Rome, Italy
Mr Ioannis (John) Triantafyllis, CMO, Athens, Greece
Dr Jagvir Singh Yadav, COSAMB, New Delhi, India
These persons, with mandates through until May 2021, now join the remainder of the WUWM Board of Directors (mandated until April 2020).
In addition to the above WUWM members also voted yes for the WUWM Statutes to be amended.
