Wholesale markets and the FAO: Together to feed the world with healthy and good food!

Today Mr Stephane Layani had the honor to sign, as the Vice-Chairman of the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Together WUWM and FAO will develop concrete join actions to provide better and healthy food to all our citizens and to fight against food waste.
The signature of this MoU shows that we are both committed to work together to find innovative and efficient ways to overcome the enormous challenges that we will have to face in the agri-food sector if we want to be able to feed in a sustainable way human population in the forthcoming decades.
The WUWM is the biggest actor in the world for fresh food distribution. Our organization represents more than 160 wholesale markets from every continent. We play an essential role in ensuring a sustainable access, availability and distribution of a diverse variety of quality fresh food products, whilst maintaining competitive prices and highest standards of food security and traceability.
