      The WUWM Secretariat recently participated in a mi The WUWM Secretariat recently participated in a mission to Nairobi, Kenya, organized by ICLEI Africa and supported by the FAO, which brough together market authorities, municipalities, investors, and international organizations committed to building more resilient food systems. ✨ Highlights from the mission: 🔹 Participation in a regional workshop based on the FAO guide "How to Design Nutrition-Sensitive Investment Strategies in Wholesale Food Markets" 🔹 Exchanges with wholesale market representatives from Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, and Zambia 🔹 Discussions on innovative financing solutions for market infrastructure 🔹 Meeting with Nairobi City officials to explore future cooperation opportunities 🔹 Visit to Wakulima Market, Nairobi's largest wholesale fresh produce market 🎤 During the workshop, WUWM General Secretary Valérie Vion highlighted the essential role of wholesale markets in food security, food safety, and sustainable urban development, emphasizing the need for modern infrastructure, cold chain systems, traceability, and professional market management.
