In her opening remarks, Ms. Vion highlighted the central role of wholesale markets in tackling food loss and waste, where decisions made within hours determine whether food is #eaten, #donated, #transformed, or #wasted. Drawing on global evidence and best practices from WUWM’s network of 300+ wholesale markets across 52 countries, she reinforced a clear message: #prevention first, #reuse second, #valorisation next, and #disposal only as a last resort. From food donation systems to modern infrastructure and strong partnerships, her keynote reminded us that solutions already exist and that they can be #adapted, #replicated, and #scaled across Asia.
