The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 WUWM Manager of the Year Award, presented during the WUWM Conference in Brussels. This award celebrates leaders who demonstrate outstanding management, innovation, and commitment to strengthening wholesale and retail markets worldwide.

This year, WUWM recognises two exemplary professionals whose achievements reflect excellence, strategic vision, and dedication to their communities.

2025 Manager of the Year – Eder Eduardo Bublitz

CEO, Ceasa Paraná – Brazil

Eder Eduardo Bublitz receives the 2025 WUWM Manager of the Year Award for his visionary leadership and impactful reforms across Ceasa Paraná. His achievements include major infrastructure modernisation, broad adoption of sustainability initiatives such as LED transitions and solar energy systems, and innovation in community engagement programmes. He also founded the “Good Food Bank”,

 

preventing nearly 7,500 tons of food waste and supporting over 1.5 million people. Under his leadership, Ceasa Curitiba became the first wholesale market in Brazil to achieve ISO 14001 certification, and the organisation significantly expanded gender equity and workplace safety, with women representing 30% of the workforce. His work sets a new benchmark for wholesale market excellence globally.

 

Special Jury Recognition – Sello Makhubela

CEO, Joburg Market – South Africa

Sello Makhubela is honoured for his strong and transformative leadership at Joburg Market, where he has driven exceptional progress in governance, staff development, and service excellence. Under his guidance, the market achieved two consecutive Clean Audits, earned recognition as a Top Employer 2024/2025, and received both the SALGA Clean Audit Award and the CIPS Best Teamwork Award. His commitment to transparency, high-performing teams, and stakeholder satisfaction, reflected in a 67% customer satisfaction rate, makes him a standout figure in South Africa’s market sector.
