WUWM Member Geraud Markets Sweden Brings the International Food Festival to Kiruna
From 19 to 22 August 2026, the city of Kiruna, in northern Sweden, will welcome the Internationella Matfestivalen (International Food Festival) for the very first time, organised by WUWM member Geraud Markets Sweden AB.
Taking place at Stadshustorget, in the heart of Kiruna, the four-day festival will transform the city square into a vibrant international meeting place celebrating food, culture and diversity.
Around 35 food stands representing more than 20 countries will offer visitors the opportunity to discover authentic street food, traditional specialties, sweets and drinks from across the world. From France, Spain and Italy to Thailand, India, Korea, Lebanon, Mexico and many more, the festival will showcase the extraordinary diversity of global food cultures.
The International Food Festival has been organised in Sweden since 2008 and is now celebrating its 18th year of activity in the country. Its arrival in Kiruna marks another important milestone: for the first time, the festival will reach Sweden’s northernmost city.
Beyond food, the event is about bringing people together. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet passionate food traders, discover different culinary traditions and experience how markets and food can create spaces for cultural exchange and community life.
This spirit strongly resonates with WUWM’s mission to connect market actors around the world and promote inclusive, accessible and vibrant food systems.
We are delighted to see our member Geraud Markets Sweden AB creating opportunities for people to meet through food and bringing the energy and diversity of markets to communities across Sweden.
